INDUSTRY'S LOWEST NOISE, ULTRA-PRECISION, VOLTAGE REFERENCE IDEAL FOR HIGH-RESOLUTION DACs

SUNNYVALE, CA-November 13, 2002-Maxim Integrated Products (NASDAQ: MXIM) introduces the MAX6126, the industry's lowest noise, ultra-precision bandgap voltage reference. The MAX6126 is one of the most accurate references available. The device offers an unprecedented combination of low temperature drift, ultra-low output noise, and the best-available initial accuracy and line/load regulation. Applications include industrial control, precision regulators, high-resolution 3V or 5V A/D and D/A converters, and instrumentation.

In the SO package, the MAX6126 guarantees less than 3ppm/°C temperature drift, 0.02% initial accuracy, and 0.025 (25µV/mA) load regulation. Narrowband (0.1Hz to 10Hz) noise is an ultra-low 1.3µVP-P; wideband noise (10Hz to 1kHz) is 1.9µVRMS. A noise reduction pin further reduces wideband noise by 40% to 1.1µVRMS when connected with a capacitor to ground.

The MAX6126 is also available in a µMAX package (5mm x 3mm footprint). The device guarantees 5ppm/°C (max) drift over temperature and 0.06% (max) initial accuracy, making it the industry's smallest sub-10ppm/°C reference.

Unlike other low-noise precision references, the MAX6126 can operate from a 2.7V supply while providing 2.5V output and sourcing 5mA. The MAX6126 features 10mA source/sink-current capability. Quiescent supply current is only 380µA and the input supply range reaches as high as 12.6V. All specifications are guaranteed over the temperature range of -40°C to +125°C.

The MAX6126 is available in five fixed output voltages of 2.048V, 2.5V, 3V, 4.096V, and 5V. Prices start at $3.15 (1000-up, FOB USA).
